Visit to the world's first tanker museum "Surakhani"
The Surakhani vessel, owned by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), played a major role in the history of Azerbaijan's oil transportation by sea. The 123.5-meter-long, 4,696-ton deadweight tanker Surakhani, the Engineer A. Pustoshkin type, first launched in the Caspian Sea in 1957.
Until recently, the tanker "Surakhany" was used as an oil refinery of the Shipping Company. In 2017, a decision was made to turn the vessel into a museum.
In order to transform the tanker into a museum, the vessel underwent major repairs and reconstruction work. More than 2,000 ship repair workers were involved in the repair and reconstruction of the hull and other parts of the ship.
The museum also drew on the experience of countries such as Great Britain, the Netherlands and Turkey, which have ancient shipping traditions. In order for the museum ship to meet international standards, cooperation was built with more than 100 influential foreign and local companies.
Using the most modern technological equipment, various innovative solutions are applied in the halls. In the museum, visitors will be able to get to know the history of the Caspian Sea, oil production in Absheron , the development of shipping, ships considered to be among the first in the world, sea giants, navigation aids that are integral attributes of shipping, sea knots with a history of about 5,000 years, as well as equipment used in the operation of ships.
The museum also has a restaurant where you can taste both national cuisine and seafood dishes.

Company " Shirvan Wines , which sells its products under the brand name Meysari. İt is named after the village where its main production facility is located, and is one of the youngest wineries in Azerbaijan. It was the first in the country to receive an EU certificate as an organic producer. The first 40 hectares of vineyards were planted in 2014, the first harvest was processed in 2015, and production is rapidly developing. The area of vineyards has already reached 160 hectares, high-quality equipment from the French company Pera-Pellenc has been installed in the new production facilities , and a restaurant, guest house and museum have been built to receive tourists and conduct tours.
The Meysari Wine Complex is just a few minutes' drive west of the city of Shamakhi , if you are driving from Baku towards Ismayilli , Gabala or Sheki. Its special attraction is the authentic Abqora restaurant , which offers guests not only delicious local dishes but also a cooking master class. Tours to Meysari currently include degustations of organic wines made from an original and vibrant blend of French grape varieties, but this is about to change soon and expand as new vineyards begin to ripen with Caucasian varieties.

Excursion to the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center
The striking Heydar Aliyev Center with its unusual wave-like shape was designed by the renowned British architect of Iraqi origin Zaha Hadid.
It opened in 2012 and immediately became a calling card of 21st century Baku. For its unique design and innovative interior, without a not a single straight line, the Center was awarded the prestigious international Design of the Year award by the London Design Museum in 2014. The building is intended to become a place that is open to everyone, regardless of gender, race and origin, and brings together people willing to share ideas.
But the Heydar Aliyev Center is not only amazing architecture, but also an impressive museum and exhibition complex. Here you will find a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions, which present the best examples of Azerbaijani and world art and culture.
Among the permanent exhibitions are a museum dedicated to the life and work of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Mini-Azerbaijan exhibition, where you will see miniature copies of the best historical and architectural landmarks of the country, and even a unique collection of vintage cars. Carpet weaving is one of the oldest types of decorative and applied art in Azerbaijan.
